Pathfinder K-8 and Seattle Public Schools (SPS) are committed to ensuring students have safe and welcoming environments for learning. We will not tolerate bullying, harassment, violence, nor symbols of oppression or hate.
Recently a student found a rough drawing taped in the stairwell and brought it to their teacher who notified me. The image was approximately 5 inches by 4 inches, and it included a noose and some language that implied the noose was art. There was no direct threat made in the drawing.
Incidents like this are why we are committed to our work to be anti-racist. If you wish to discuss incidents of this type and how we can address them, p
lease plan to join one of our Affinity Groups (be sure to register for
April
and
June
) or Join the Pledge in March (more information in The Compass school newsletter).
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are using this resource to collect your feedback so that we can use it to inform our continued anti-racist practices. In most cases, we will not be responding directly, but all feedback is being reviewed by Pathfinder K-8 staff.
