Osceola School District honored for community engagement

Florida district fosters community relations through “Share Your Great” — an initiative highlighting school community experiences.

Sept. 9, 2021 — Osceola School District has received a Blackboard Catalyst Award for “Share Your Great” — an initiative that uses K12 Insight’s Let’s Talk to encourage stakeholders to share feel-good stories about teachers, students, athletics, clubs, and more.

“Let’s Talk is a valued and trusted communications platform in the Osceola School District,” said Dana Schafer, public information officer at Osceola School District. “I am honored that my amazing team received this recognition, which speaks to their tireless dedication and creativity to engage our community.”

Blackboard recognized the Florida district within the Community Engagement category of its annual Catalyst Awards, which honor Blackboard customers who are leveraging technology in new ways to improve student achievement by fostering a connection between school districts, institutions, educators, students, and their communities.

“Let’s Talk helps school districts deliver remarkable customer experiences by inviting stakeholders to share their voices through questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, and praise,” said Krista Coleman, chief customer officer at K12 Insight. “We’re excited the Osceola School District communications team has been recognized for their exceptional work to feature the stories from their district. Their Catalyst Award for ‘Share Your Great’ is well deserved.”

“‘Share Your Great’ — launched in 2018 — aligns with our strategic plan and our goal to improve community engagement and governance by building confidence and trust among internal and external stakeholders,” Schafer said. “Let’s Talk helps us highlight our educators and students, which builds trust in our community for our high-quality public schools.”
